We all have been expecting the big day of GTA 6. It’s one of the hot topics in the world of gaming. “When will GTA 6 officially get released?” The banner year set for GTA 6 was 2025. However it seems GTA will get delayed further!
Especially after the release of the GTA 6: Trailer 1 on December 2023, Rockstar games have been quiet for a while now. We do not have any confirmation dates for the game nor a release date for Trailer 2. Some predict trailer 2 will be at the end of this year and vice versa. However we don’t have any confirmations yet!
Kotaku’s Verdict
According to Kotaku (2024) which is a major video game website and gaming Blog,
“GTA 6 could miss its 2025 release window and slip into 2026”
Kotaku further elaborated with its statement saying Rockstar Game Studio’s former goal which was to release GTA 6 in early 2025 was once possible it is no longer the target for GTA 6’s launch.
Lay Offs in Take-Two Interactive
Another one of the oddly most discussed topics in recent weeks was how Take-Two Interactive; the parent company of GTA plans to lay off 5% of its workforce and cut down on several of their projects. Many fans started to assume the worst that this might also factor into GTA 6 being delayed further. My personal opinion is it doesn’t have a connection with it. Let me explain why. First of all, Take-Two has many subsidiaries, Rockstar Games is only one of them. So while this news is indeed true, it doesn’t mean it’s going to affect Rockstar Games or GTA 6. Secondly, why would they nuke the same project which gives them the biggest revenue. It doesn’t make any sense!
Rockstar makes On site work Compulsory
Recently Rockstar Games announced that all its remote workers have been instructed to return to the workplace. While Rockstar Games made it mandatory, it seems this specific move has proven to be really troublesome. Long-time remote workers are finding it hard to relocate. It seems there are a lot of internal conflicts within the management and staff.
Without a doubt, GTA 6 is the most anticipated game of all time. There are so many expectations for GTA 6. Especially since it has been a decade since the last version of the franchise came out. GTA 6 has quite been crowned with the title of the most unique one in the series too.
Its modern setting, the very first female protagonist “Lucia”, the social networking systems in GTA 6, Vice City, the Metro Systems stand out. Fans have a lot of expectations for this game. It’s pretty obvious the expectations are weighing down on Rockstar Games developers a lot. Fans have set the bar so high. Rockstar needs to get a lot of work done perfectly to bring this banger to the world!
Conclusion
Considering the issues with the internal management and also the high expectations set by the public there is a high chance GTA 6 will be delayed indeed. If you take GTA V for instance, it also got pushed back to late 2014 while it was set to be published in early 2014. Its successor, GTA VI will also go under a similar procedure for all we know.
However, we must not forget that Rockstar Games has a notorious reputation for its “Crunch Time”. It’s obvious Rockstar Games will get their developers to work around the clock as the time gets near.
So while these issues might delay GTA 6’s early 2025 release, We can at least look forward to the fall of 2025!
